The Jolly Nailor is a good old fashioned 'local' situated on the main Market Street of Atherton, Manchester. The centre of a community, a 'proper' pub where no plastic themes and gimmicks adorn the walls.
Landlady Mary keeps some fine ales, with the pub being owned by local award winning Wigan brewery Allgates. The range available at any one time from the 6 hand pumps is varied, and always of the highest quality.
As well as the real ales The Jolly Nailor stocks Guinness, alongside a selection of lagers and ciders. Looking behind the bar you'll see a good selection of wines and spirits including an array of Scottish single malt whiskies (full drinks list here).
While Mary's husband Steve is busy keeping a clean and well stocked cellar, Mary handles the kitchen duties from where she produces some excellent home cooked food every evening and weekends.
The general ambiance of this grand old pub, whose name cocks it's hat towards Atherton's rich industrial past, is of a warm and welcoming local pub, maintained in an orderly fashion for regulars and visitors alike. The pub caters for all seasons, switching from barbecues in the garden during summer months to open log fires in the winter; a home from home to the locals!
